Like Caitlyn Jenner when it comes to cooking steak James is a traditionalist. The first time I cooked steak in the oven while he was around I did not hear the end of it. I’m positive he loved it but there was no way he was going to admit it after the smorgasbord of insults and slurs he threw my way. So…next time you are having dinner at James’ you sit there and think about how good that oven steak could have been. Then figure out how you got in a stranger’s house and what is that weird aftertaste in your drink.
How the hell do I cook steak in the oven?
You really only have two options. You can guess and fail miserably. Or you can check out my instructional article. These are your only options. There is no other way possible in the entire world.
Ok…onto the useful part of this article. Why cook steak in the oven?
⊕ Steak is succulent – I love my BBQ but the bet steaks I’ve ever cooked have come from the oven. The even heat manages to cook the inside perfectly without overcooking the outside. Especially for thick steaks.
⊕ You don’t burn the house down – Every time I try to cook steak in a pan the house fills with smoke and the fire alarm goes off. This might be because I’m impatient and I crank the heat up to full but I think it’s the pan’s fault.
⊕ You don’t have to go outside – Cooking on the BBQ is great and all but not when you have to walk through torrential rain to get there.
⊕ Consistency – It’s much easier to cook the steak consistently with this method. Gone are the hit and miss days of over/under cooked steak.
⊗ Street Cred – The only downer with this method is you definitely lose some street cred. It’s really difficult to convince the missus you don’t know a fork from a spork if you whip out these crazy kitchen moves. If you have a James in your life, your ears will cop a beating also.
I like it. The BBQ will still be my preferred cooking method however the oven cooked steak will make its way into the rotation for a bit of variety.
